Being surrounded by other bright, engaged and interesting students inspires everyone to reach for their best. HGM students pursue their passions with great commitment and the support of our school. That's why our small community of about 300 students has exceptionally high achievements in many different areas.
2024-2025
10 student semifinalists in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program
1 HGM senior awarded a 2024 LAUSD Milken Scholars Award for exemplary academic performance, leadership and character.
2 students placed 2nd in Novice Policy for NoHo Debate at the Jack Howe Memorial Tournament. Student ranked 4th place Speaker
2023-2024
Student won a gold medal in the 2024 International Biology Olympiad
Science Bowl Team placed 1st in the 32nd LADWP Regional Science Bowl Competition.
Science Bowl Team took 2nd place at the National Science Bowl in Washington DC
Student won 1st place in the National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB) Steam Leader Challenge on “Understanding Storm Surges and Protecting Our Communities”
13 Student recognitions and 9 state qualifiers from History Day Club in the History Day LA County Competition.
California History Day at California State Competition resulted in six state finalists and two runner-ups
Deca 2024 Southern California State Career Development Conference Winners - six Overall Finalists, four Roleplay & Exam finalists, ten additional finalists
2024 LA County Science & Engineering Fair Winners and Awards: Physics: Second Place, Animal Physiology: Second Place, Plant Biology: Third Place, Animal Biology: Recognition, Special Award: UCLA Brain Research, Institute Senior Division: First Place, Environmental Management: Recognition, Ecology: Recognition, Environmental Management: Recognition
Student won 2nd place in Humorous Interpretation and 3rd place in Dramatic Interpretation at the Tri-County Forensic League (TCFL) IE State Qualifier.
Student qualified for state in the TCFL Congress State Qualifier.
